Dr. Candida Brush
Dr. Brush is a Professor of Entrepreneurship and holder of the Paul T. Babson Chair in Entrepreneurship at Babson College. She also serves as Chair of the Entrepreneurship Division. She received her DBA from Boston University, an MBA from Boston College and a BA from the University of Colorado.
Dr. Brush has authored four books, two edited volumes and more than 80 published articles and book chapters. Dr. Brush was one of 18 researchers selected to participate in the 1995 White House Conference Research Project: The Future of Small Business and Entrepreneurship into the Year 2010, and was recognized by INC Magazine in 1995 as one of the top 16 researchers in Entrepreneurship in the US. She was appointed by the Secretary of Defense to the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services (DACOWITS) and served for 3 years.
She serves on non-profit boards and advises several start-up and growing businesses. Dr. Brush is an Editor for Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and serves on four other editorial review boards. Dr. Brush was on the founding team for the Panel Study of Entrepreneurial Dynamics (PSED) and was a co-recipient of the National Science Foundation Award for the over-sample of women entrepreneurs. She has served on more than 13 PhD dissertations and mentored more than 30 doctoral students. She is a founding member of the Diana Project International, a research collaborative of scholars from 20 countries studying finance strategies of women entrepreneurs. For this work on the Diana Project, she and her colleagues received the 2007 FSF-NUTEK international award for outstanding contributions to entrepreneurship research for their work studying women’s access to growth capital.
Theodore A. Clark
Ted Clark has been active in the venture capital and private equity business for over 20 years. He is active on the advisory boards of several U.S. venture capital firms and is currently on the board of two start ups in the Boston area as well has being active with several local charities. Ted began his private equity career with Venture Economics in 1987 as a consultant to institutional investors creating, analyzing and managing their venture and private equity portfolios.
In 1990, Ted joined HarbourVest Partners, LLC (originally Hancock Venture Partners, Inc.) as an analyst focusing on fund of funds investing. Over 17 years, Ted played a leadership role, ultimately as Managing Director, in developing the firm’s U.S. private equity business. He served on advisory boards of many U.S. and non U.S. venture, buyout and mezzanine investment partnerships. Ted was involved in all aspects of portfolio strategy, due diligence, portfolio development and monitoring as well as team management. Additionally, Ted led relationships with many institutional clients and their consultants, supervised elements of the firm’s marketing activities and guided the development of the firm’s partnership portfolio tracking database.
Prior to his private equity career, Ted was a marketing and financial analyst with Citicorp in New York City. Ted holds an undergraduate business degree from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY and a Masters of Business Administration from Babson College, Wellesley Massachusetts. He is a trustee of Babson College, is married and has 13 year old twins.
Jorge Castilla
Mr. Castilla has 17 years of experience in the business consulting industry. He has been a partner with Accenture since 2001 and is currently the Senior Executive responsible for the Human Performance practice and Natural Resources industry services in Mexico.
Prior to this responsibility Mr. Castilla served in a variety of leadership and client engagement roles focused on supply chain excellence and strategic business initiative execution in Both the Mining and Metals industry, and also with complementary experiences on the Glass, Cement and Paper industries.
He holds a B.S. degree in finance from Northwest Missouri State University, and has done his post graduate studies in the Kellogg school of business at Northwestern University.
